Moe’s Fresh Markets Sponsors 2022 USVI Charter Yacht Show – November 12-15, IGY Marinas, Yacht Haven Grande, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands
St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. Moe’s Fresh Markets, the largest gourmet grocery retailer on St. Thomas and major charter yacht provisioner, will sponsor the USVI Charter Yacht Show for the fifth consecutive year, according to organizers, the Virgin Islands Professional Charter Association (VIPCA). The grocer, with harborside locations on St. Thomas’ Waterfront and Yacht Haven Grande in Charlotte Amalie, and Red Hook, along with its latest North Side location opening in early 2023, has provided long-time and stalwart support to the show even through a global pandemic. Considering over two-thirds (69%) of U.S. travelers feel that trying new foods is a crucial element of vacation decisions, based on a 2022-released Trip Advisor report, it’s key to have gourmet provisioning readily available to chefs aboard the territory’s fleet of boutique-style crewed charter yachts.
“The Moe’s team takes pride and care in everything we produce and procure for all clients. We understand the frustrations of sourcing ingredients and goods in the Caribbean, so we have dedicated an entire provisioning team to help serve you, your crew, and your guests. Not only are we able to source hard-to-find groceries and produce, but we have one of the largest selections of wine and liquors,” says Khalid Hamed, Manager at Moe’s Fresh Markets.
New, Moe’s has expanded its natural, organic, and gluten-free product offerings. The retailer is currently flying in fresh fish every other day, enabling clients to source hard-to-find fish and caviar. Moe’s also features dry-aged beef during the peak charter season. Provisioning is available online through the web portal: www.moesvi.com/provisioning.html. Delivery can be arranged. In-store, each Moe’s location has a bakery, full-service deli with Boars Head brand meats, Moe’s StoneHouse Sub-brand sandwiches, salad/cold and hot food bars, and experienced butchers.
The 2022 USVI Charter Yacht Show offers a series of highly valuable and informative seminars throughout each day of the event. These kick-off with the New Crew Briefing on November 11, at 5:00 p.m. Most notable are two catered complimentary breakfast talks, the USVI Charter Highlights on November 13 and Charter Compliance on November 14, both from 8:00 a.m. The former is the latest land-and-sea charter secrets provided by experts in historical sites, hiking, and diving, while the latter features VI Government speakers from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the Virgin Islands National Park, and the British Virgin Islands Shipping Registry. Luncheon seminars at Noon on November 12, 13, and 14 provide updates on Trip & Travel Insurance, and from 12:30-1:00 p.m. on November 13 and 14, the VI National Park Sea Turtle Program and the VI National Parks. The show will wrap up with the Charter Yacht Professional Excellence training 1:00-6:00 p.m. November 15 with a certificate awarded to participating crews by Seven Sea’s Academy.
“For charter crews and brokers, it can be hard work to stay on top of Government compliance with new regulations announced seemingly annually between the USVI and the BVI. This year’s seminars have been crafted to pave the way for new and experienced industry professionals to keep one step ahead of the game to guarantee a successful season ahead. What’s more, the early morning seminars provide the opportunity for VIPCA to host catered breakfasts, with once again tremendous thanks to Moe’s Fresh Market for their support,” says Oriel Blake, Executive Director of VIPCA and USVI Charter Yacht Show Director.
Calling Brokers & Yachts – Register Now!
Some 150 brokers from the Caribbean, U.S., and Europe will attend the 2022 USVI Charter Yacht Show.
“For me, the VIPCA show has become one of the gold standards for Charter Yacht Shows in the Caribbean. Since yachts attending the VIPCA show range widely in size and pricing, I find it more important than ever to inspect, chat and meet the crews of the smaller yachts as well as the larger ones,” says Mandy Walker, owner of WLMS Charters, based in St. Thomas, USVI.
Regarding the value of the culinary component of a charter, Walker adds, “This is one of, if not the most important aspects. The chef can make or break a charter. Guests can overlook mechanical issues if their favorite dish is presented in front of them! Being able to meet and chat with the chefs and learning what their own favorite dishes are to create is one of the best parts of the show!”
Charter brokers can register at usviyachtshow.org. Charter brokers can join VIPCA at vipca.org/brokers-associates-vendors-membership to receive one free broker show registration in addition to many other membership benefits. Presently 73 yachts are registered to exhibit at the 2022 show. One of these is Oceanus, a 2022-built, 70-foot Fontaine Pajot.
“We are excited to introduce Oceanus and her crew to the professional brokers attending the VIPCA show. We also look forward to introducing the vessel’s Charter Manager, Mandy Lee-Elliott, to these same brokers, as this is the first new Central Agent for our office in France,” says Elena Vitelli, charter manager assistant for Blue Oceans Yachting, with offices in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Antibes, France.
The hot tub and teak decks are standout features of Oceanus, which charters with four crew for a dual season.
